Pierpaolo Scarano received his Master's degree in Chemical Sciences in March 2018 and the title of. PhD in Science and Technology for Environment and Health at the University of Sannio in July 2022. His work focuses on the application and development of extractive methods to obtain bioactive molecules from plant matrices. His studies are not only centered and focused toward plant matrices, but embrace the broader theme of circular economy and sustainability, working on obtaining bioactive molecules from secondary raw materials (SRM) in order to valorize them.
In fact, during his tenure at the Department of Chemical Sciences, he carried out a project for food eco-innovation in Europe, the EcoTrophelia 2015, a European competition sponsored, in Italy, by Federalimentare, for university students to design and create an eco-innovative food product compared to those already on the market: he participated at the head of a team with other students, winning the 1st prize Italy and the 2nd prize Europe, at the EXPO in Milan.
